The Theater Arts Production Company School (TAPCo) is a New York City Public School serving grades 6-12. As a learner-centered, performance-based school of choice, its faculty and staff are committed to promoting intellectual engagement and fostering creativity, diversity and personal responsibility. A small school, it is able to provide a safe and personalized environment to a multi-cultural community in the Bronx.
TAPCo challenges its students to add new dimensions to their education, by integrating theater arts and other creative courses into the core curriculum, supporting and reinforcing their academic growth. They are provided an opportunity to pursue training in the arts while simultaneously nurturing them as “whole” individuals with academic dexterity and high self esteem. TAPCo works closely with its students to build community, develop productive relationships.

It is the mission of the Humanities Preparatory Academy to provide a philosophical and practical education for all students, an education that features creativity and inquiry, encourages habitual reading and productivity, as well as self-reflection and original thought. It is committed to inspiring the love of learning in its students and aims to prepare students to live thoughtful and meaningful lives. As a democratic community, Humanities Prep strives to exemplify the values of democracy: mutual respect, cooperation, empathy, the love of humankind, justice for all, and service to the world.
The Humanities Prep culture has made it a natural fit for COMMUNITY OF UNITY’s YELC program, where students are able to explore these types of questions with the support of their peers through our four-year in and after school program. Learn more.
