Design Your Future (DYF)
College Centers
Community of Unity enables students to realize their unique potentials by providing them with access to CofU-staffed College Centers in its two high schools, TAPCo and New Design High School. We presently work with 150 seniors and 170 juniors to ensure that every student has equal access to a rewarding educational future, regardless of their financial status.
Our College Center Directors give each student the tools and support they need to navigate the college application process and succeed in designing their educational futures. This includes:
P.R.E.P.A.R.E.D.
Preparation: PSAT, SAT, college apps, and financial aid Resources – Raise money and create budget for college related expenses
Exposure: Professional and college related trips and events
Proficiency: Students become proficient at the college application process
Alumni: Networking, access, and support
Reach: Individualized plans will be developed for all students
Empowerment: Provide students with the necessary tools and knowledge to actively participate in preparing to leave high school
Data: Use data to create systems that work for individual student populations
